Got a ticket to NAB, any tips on how long to go for, where to stay, etc.?

The day I'm thinking of is the last day which is from 9am to 2pm and so I'll make sure to arrive in the morning right before it's opened since I know that I'd be taking a risk being their for just a day. I already have exibits I have in mind so I'll be doing research on where exactly is each exibit so that I wont be wasting my time and energy looking all over for each one. With the plan I have, I would only miss 1 day of work. Now if I decide to fly on the 8th instead so I can be at NAB for 2 days, I'd be missing 2 days of work. One issue I have is that I also plan on going to the Azores this summer for possibly 2 weeks so I'm not so sure I'd want to take too many days off work at this time but you never know. The hotel I might stay at will probably be the cheapest on the NAB site which is Circus Circus. I've done a lot of research on that place to find out what's the catch with that low price tag and it doesn't seem that bad for people who want to visit NAB on a budget. I've been wanting to visit NAB for many, many years and never gave myself a chance and since I also want to visit friends and relatives in the Azores this year, I really need to be careful with my money and not spend more than I have to. The plane ticket alone will cost around $400 and besides, I also might be planning on visiting other places around Las Vegas and so spending too much on a hotel will limit what I can do their.

Well, on the site it says 1.4 miles for Circus Circus and a little under a mile for Riviera for example. That's not too bad but I'd obviously try to catch the shuttle first before I decide to walk their.

Why can't NAB offer packages that includes airfare as well? I do see good packages that includes both airfare and hotel online. I guess I'll just have to get to the Convention Center on my own then. Their is a bus stop next to Circus Circus and Riviera. I wonder if they go close to the Convention Center.

NAB has free shuttle buses I suggest seeing which casinos they depart from and just go there. I think Circus Circus is one stop (in the past it was). I have done the Riviera walk. not bad but not something you want to do since you'll be walking plenty during the conference. just DO NOT take a taxi. $$$$$$$
What or where is the "SuperMeet"? I missed 'a' meet/ get together last year. (my fault)

It's claimed in the NAB site that you can only use the shuttle if you book the hotel though them. Who knows, maybe they'd let me use it anyway. We'll see.

The SuperMeet is at the Riviera: http://supermeet.com/ It's currently $15 a ticket now and it's best to buy it online right away like I did before it's sold out.
That's another reason why I decided to go 1 day earlier. I really didn't want to miss that. The supermeet is on the same day as the flight. Basically once I get to a hotel, it'll almost be time to attend the supermeet so I'm going to have to try to sleep in the plane a bit.

Scare tactic. They have NEVER checked anything. You just hop on. They may look for badges but usually they never even look for that.
I stay at time share and drive to a convient hotel and hop the shuttle.

No one is going to try to be looking at receipts for hotel & badge. See a NAB bus, hop on it.

Whoa there, that photo makes those hotels look a lot closer than they really are.

I'll second that. I stayed at Stratosphere one year (not an "official" hotel) & it was a good 20-25min walk to the convention center. I did it b/c I got a good deal on flight / hotel bundle from one of the travel web sites and I didn't mind walking. But everything is a long walk in Vegas. Even crossing the street along the strip can take 5-10min if you're at one of the aweful instersections where you have to walk up 2 flights of stairs in the opposite direction of the street you're trying to cross, then you cross & then walk down 2 flights of stairs, again in the wrong direction that you're trying to walk.

But getting to / from the airport & hotels or the convention center, I've found that the Las Vegas public buses aren't too bad. They're very cheap & run pretty close to schedule. A little tricky to figure out which one to get on at the air port, or what door to walk out of to get to the buses, but after that it is a cheap ride.
