I agree with their direction here. The GoPro needs all of the features of these small Point & Shoot cameras to compete. Price will be more than the past but will be worth it. Hopefully they have a lens that is not so fisheye on the wide end.

You know what I like about this announcement (or rather leak of a soon to be announcement)? It's that it was predictable. We all knew a 4K 24-30fps GoPro was coming next and it did. Now if only other manufacturers could be so predictable.

As long as there's PAL protocol's I'll be happy. Such as 4K/25p, 2.7/50p (confirmed), 1080/100fps. This will make me very happy. I'm looking to invest in a completely new fly rig by early 2015 maybe end of Xmas 2014. Gimbals and stabilizers are becoming so much better. Hopefully CCD 4K lenses will start to pop up. I'm usually modding my GoPros.

That's usually the case when a generation has proven its market value. Especially on a 4th gen amazing camera. I expect the best model to be around 499 easily

according to the article, the 4k black edition does not have the lcd back, only the silver one.

And the silver one doesn't have useable 4K video (only 15fps), never can get everything you want seems to be true every generation.

I figure that they'll drop the other cameras' prices and price the Hero 4 Black at what the current Black sells for.

The specs that petapixel reported seem a little garbled. If everything else doubles on the Hero Black, 960p should be capable of 200 fps, not just 120 fps, and 720 should do 240 fps. Additionally, they say nothing about DCI 4K, which should be up to 24 fps (Hero 3 Black was up to 12 fps). And no mention was made of whether GoPro will exploit the Ambarella 9's WDR/HDR capabilities.
