Google Wave for Filmmakers

Hey everyone,

I'm all in and registered with google wave but a little confused as to where I can find the conversation? Is there a reduser / dvxuser conversation wave underway already? How do I get tapped into this?

The only thing I know how to do is to add people to my own wave and start my own conversation but that seems fruitless if there's already a conversation somewhere else on another wave. Whats it take to be invited into that wave?

Any help available here? I'm a greatful member of both dvxuser and reduser, and have been avidly following both camps for years.

Thanks everyone

Dillon Thomas

Just got it:

BTW, why is it @googlewave.com? Won't that confuse people? What about when googlewave expands? Will it be @"insertname"wave.com always? I mean you can't send to regular e-mail or vise verse via google wave... or can you?

EDIT:

JonStarrFilms@googlewave.com

I'll prob start using that one for film related thingies, so add me there instead.

well, I don't have an account but maybe they don't want it to be used as an email platform, I mean for that they have gmail.... maybe in the future they'll blend them together....
btw...where did you get the invite, I've been looking for one like a crazy and i can't find one...If someone invited me...

Right, but like my boss was saying (he's a tech nerd) they should have used a different system rather than @----.com as people may think it's an e-mail... If this is "email 2.0" then it should use a fresh new way of identifying things to separate it from e-mails.

yep, you are right, what I suppose is that in the future the gmail username and the google wave service usernames will be the same and you'll log in to those services just by using your all in one username as you can do now with all the other google services. Once all the usernames are standard the hassle for the users is minimun and thus you have happy users.....well that's just my opinion.

If you already have gmail and signed up using your gmail id, the two "different" acounts are automatically linked (contacts for now and presumably other items later on).

I am coddida at googlewave.com and I have 2 invitations left. First 2 to PM me will get 'em. And if you don't get an invitation or a direct response from me...that means they're gone already!

For the record, the current functionality seems less than compelling to me. The promotions look really cool but most of the features don't seem to be available yet (grayed out).

I just got it the other day.

I don't know what I need to do to get invites to give out, or if I need to wait a while, or what... so if anyone has any info regarding that, I can get some invites and pass 'em out to folks.

Later,
Jason

You sure that's your account name (with an @, of course)? When I enter it into my contacts, it says you don't have a google wave account.

I have 1 invite left over, so whomever PMs me first get's it.

Keep in mind it's fairly buggy (seems like it's before beta even), and as no one really has it (or checks it), so it's kind of lonely. I've heard of people starting up massive waves to test it, which I'm looking to join some, so we shall see.

Buuut, from just playing with it a bit, and having watched the one hour video and checking out the features, it seems like a perfect medium for people working on projects, such as filmmakers. In fact, I'm hoping that there will be some sort of App made for filmmakers, like Celtx embeded in the waves so everyone can work on the production documents together, layouts, etc...

I still have one left, and I feel bad picking and choosing from this thread as many have posted their e-mails. So first to PM me get's the invite...
