Google Earth Pro

What for?

I've played with it. It's cool and has possibilities. I almost think I've seen it used in a couple low-mid budget T.V movies. I kind of shy away from that. I think Vue may be better, or a combination thereof...

I was wondering if anyone has used it to incorporate into video productions. I was thinking about maybe using it in an application to get from one point to another.

A few years back before I got into 3D animation, I was in need of the same kind of animation (from one point of the world to another) and found a quick way to obtain what I needed. If you own a Mac, jump into iMovie and search through the presets and you'll find several maps. There, you can select a map and specify multiple points in which you would like your animation to travel. I'm not entirely sure if the latest version of iMovie still has these particular presets but iMovie '09 definitely had them. In terms of quality, the best way of going about it is obviously by rendering it in 3D yourself. However, if your not too familiar with 3D software, this is an easy approach. The result looks very "Google Earthish" but if that's what your going for, it's at least worth a look.

I ended up trying a free trial of Google Earth Pro..... pretty cool playing around with it. Still trying to figure out how to use it in FCP.
