After 5 months of being with a PC that takes about 10 minutes to startup (im not joking!), I have just ordered my 2.3GHz G5 with 2.5GB, 750GB HD, 2x 19" Flatscreens (not apples unfortunatley, but i cant really be fussy), FCP Studio and After Effects. Just a question though, although i am going to be using it for SD stuff for a while, will it be able to edit HD footage?
 
The machine itself will be capable, but you'll need some additional items, depending on which HD codec you decide to edit with. For example, uncompressed HD would require very fast hard drives, etc.

hdv will be fine. until you see it on a quad g5. and then you'll cry yourself to sleep. you will probably have to purchase an intermediary codec though. because m2t files are the jank jank.
