Good Wireless Lav kit?

I was working on a film this weekend and they mic'ed everyone instead of booming them, and it seemed like such a better way to go. I was thinking of buying some audio gear recently, mainly a boom kit though.
Should I invest in a wireless lav kit or no? What is a good budget kit if there are any?

Thanks

Booming is normally better than a lav. Most professionals (in the UK, anyway) prefer to boom and use a lav. as a last resort.

But if you want a radio kit the Senny G3 series is good value (the G3 is now diversity on the camera receiver) - the ew 100 ENG G3 gives you a plug-on TX as well as a pocket with a lav. if you need flexibility.

Booming is great if you have a dedicated audio pro with you. If not, lavs are the way to go IMHO. Lectrosonics are worth the money, but as John states, the G3 has decent ratings from indie filmmakers.

Note that the Sennheiser G3 is pretty much the least expensive halfway-decent wireless kit. Anything less is most likely an unreliable, fiddly, disposable plastic toy. Don't waste your money on anything less.

You have not identified where you are, but if you are in the US, don't get suckered into buying an expensive 700MHz-band kit at very low prices. The 700MHz band is now illegal for wireless mics in the US, so don't even look at one.
