I've been using small tripods on trips (around a foot long). They are great because I can fit them in my carry on bag and they are easy to carry on vacation. I use a gh2. The tripods work well for setting a static shot, but they don't pan or tilt smoothly. Are there small tripods that have good tripod heads for proper camera moves?
