The OP also said he was filming in the exact same type of locations featured in the video I posted earlier in the thread. If he is, and he has similar temperatures to those I faced in the arctic, there's a decent chance those Brightcast LEDs will fail, particularly if they are just stuffed in a pocket while being transported. Personally, I think the OP should arrange a lift from the airport, forget walking with kit and choose a lighting set-up that is more robust and has more punch as it can get very bright with old that snow and a low sun up north.

Well I will be in remote Alaska villages which is pretty similar anyways. I was hoping
for transport but these locations have no rental cars and quite a few of them have very
few people with phones in the villages. I'm hoping for a ride, but trying to plan
as if I won't have one, because my client hasn't been able to firm up a ride with the
contacts that I will be interviewing, and I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone
that I can hire for transport. Luckily, it will be first week of April which means that
temperatures, if not warm, are at least not bitterly cold....and the sun is getting higher
in the sky every day! I really don't mind walking a mile or so but not if I'm carrying a
50lb light kit along with my backpack with camera and lenses and my sticks. One of
those roll up LED lights looks like just the ticket. I doubt I'd stuff it in a pocket though,
I tend to baby any of my gear.

Ah, OK. Well, if it's not sub-zero, then those roll-ups do look very good. I'm guessing by your username you are experienced in the region... ...But, April is next week and it's currently -25C where I shot that video.

not bad. Also, not planning on using the light outdoors,
just for some interviews and that sort of thing.
The light I decided to go with is LEDgo's VersaTile.
I'll put up a review on how it did (or didn't) work, once I get
back to the land of decent internet and cell phone service.

The other panels that intrigue me are the LiteMats, but I won't be buying in until they improve the cable connections.

Just spoke with them and the connectors are changing for the next-gen. Might see something at NAB this year. I have two of the 2nd gen 2Ls. Love them EXCEPT for the connectors and to be honest, they still need to be brighter. I am replacing Divas and bi-color LiteMats just aren't bright enough yet. Very nice quality light though.
