Good second camera to mach DVX100A

This may be the wrong place to post but I did not know where to go. I have a dvx100a that I use for wedding filming and I was looking at getting a second cam at an inexpensive price (below $1000.) I understand that that really limits me and I know I need a 3chip camera so I was looking at the Panasonic PV-GS series, specifically the PV-GS300 as it has a Leica lens. I know to get a similar shot I will have to shoot both cams in 60i but that is the nature of the beast when using the PV-GS series. Is anyone doing this? How is it working out? any suggestions for this or other cameras.

Thank you for your feedback and again I apologize if I posted in the wrong spot.

I have the same problem ive always wanted the pv-dv953 or the dvc30 only cuz they use the same batts as the 100. the only prob is that the 953 is hard to find these days and the 30 is over 1000. you mite be able to find a dvc80 used for under a grand. the gs400 mite be found under a grand now that it has been replaced.

I have used a Canon XM1 (PAL version of GL1), with okay results. They can be had 2nd hand for your budget.

I'd think you'd do pretty good with the GS cameras. They're about the only thing you CAN get for that price.

Have you considered just renting a DVX when you need it?

I'm really interested in your "953" response. I have access one and had considered using it as a backup camera for my 100B. Do you really think its a good option and why?

Thank you,

Kamau

In good lighting, my GS400 likes almost identical to my DVX100B. Reportedly, the new GS500 has the same image quality.

Does the GS500 take the same batt as the DVX? My DVX book says that most panasonic consumer batts are teh same as the dvx.

I'm not sure, but I don't believe so.
