Good Royalty free music

I am going to be filming some sporting events in a few weeks time and need to know what sort of royalty free music to use. The finished product will be about an hour long and be distributed to competitors on DVD. I want to have some really good flowing fast tracks for all the action, but at the start, build it up with some dramatic music to create a mood. I will be interviewing people in between and would probably use some dramatic background music there.
I have seen a few places that do these in Studio Monthly magazine like sound ideas and CSS music, but can anybody tell me what they would reccomend and where to purchase it from? Are some companies better than others at producing good royalty free music, or are they all generally the same?

You really have to spend a lot of time listening to the different music libraries to see what's best for you. Prices vary a lot, and you usually get what you pay for. But you can also find some really good deals out there. Some places can be flexible with their pricing. Also, there's different purchase plans ranging from needle drop usage to buying the music outright. Jay Rose has a list of royalty free music sites along with comments at his website www.dplay.com.

Personally I use Metro Music and Fresh Music. Fresh has just about the lowest prices I've seen at $100 for 5 CD's. Both companies have websites where you can listen to their full libraries.

Most of what I have heard isn't great, so I guess I will have to break it up a bit more in the production. How about voice over artists, especially for sports action. Does anybody know any good artists that don't coast an arm and a leg and how does it work? Do you send them a script and they simply do the voice over and send it back to you? Is there anyhting I need to know about the process before forking out $ for one?

I recently discovered http://www.twistedtracks.com
Looks like some of the stuff on there might work for generic high energy sports music. I went on there and grabbed the ten free tracks -- one of them already came in handy on a project.

As for voice-over, I work on a pretty regular basis with an experienced actor / VO artist. Depends on exactly what you're after, but feel free to PM me with details.

I would send you a link to someone I use for VO, but you are nopt allowing contact thru your profile....

I also use Free Play. Great tracks, and very flexible terms.

PS: I'm also looking for a professional narrator. Any recommendations?

I use Dojo Pro for scoring but also to get some music from. It's an actual studio in Sperryville, VA but he (Steve) does and amazing job and the price is very reasonable. You tell him what you need and he can do it. http://www.dojopro.com
