hi all

just wanting to know some thoughts on on camera mic's.
im after a good quality mic. basically its goin on a jvc hdv camera. the user wants to record a sort of behind the scenes style video, with possible broadcasting.

myself i love the 416 as she wants to pickup speech as well as nat sounds. some people say and omni-directional mic. but would this pickup to much noise from the camera operator??

any suggestions on a mic... price doesnt faze me

thanks

depends on your budget , hyper cardioid or shotgun are mostly what working on the camera .

yeh thanks i think i will go for the 416.. use it on a boom pole so should be great for on camera.... are the RODE mics such as NTG1 and videomics any good? just for a cheap buy?

NTG-1 and NTG-2 are great value for the price, maybe the cheapest usable shotguns. Videomic is two levels down (and no phantom, balanced lines etc.).

i nwil nnot go with 416 only for 1 reaon , no high pass filter on the mic
check mics which have one to rid off the camera rumble and wind issues
by the way the 416 is not worth it for camera use , all mics sucs so beter buy something cheaper ,rode ntg is quit good for that , also akg , bayer at 4073 can do the job ,
for something really better check sanken cs-3 which sounds better then all others
