This is my first post (hey he's a virgin poster!) and I have had a good look around here and I didnt see much helpful fedback on what I am posting for so I am going to plough straight in.
For those of you editing with Vegas 8 and shot with the very popular HVX 200 and using the Raylight plug-in and wondered what to expect from a high end PC, well...
Our company have been using Vegas since version 2 : back in the good ole days when Sonic Foundry were still banging it out and we recently shot our first feature film. Running in Traffic with the HVX and are editing with Sony Vegas 8 on the Core 2 extreme from intel with 4bg or Ram on Windows XP pro. We have a Raid 5 setup housing a whopping 4tb of hard disk space (Well 3.67 to be exact after windows takes it cheeky little monkey share!) that gives us 200 Mb/s . Strapped with a Raptor 10000 RPM system drive.
We can edit MXF files in all there glory at full res on a Black Magic deck link card and add colour correction plugins and a few other filters before Vegas even think about dropping any one of its 25 glorious frames per second.
If this is no use to any of you then you should by now be moving on but hay, we're happy and we just wanted to let people out there know about it.
All the best,
: )
