what do you advise me to watch? really scary movies...

just a little thing more please, can you tell me the name of the main actor since most of movies in France don't have the same title. thank you guyz

if you end up flying to monterey, california in the next 24 hours, the Golden State theatre is screening Night of the Living Dead.

That's where I'll be :)

I'm sure you've all caught it by now (most likely several times like me)...
but Bravo! is showing The 100 Scariest Movie Moments regularly through tomorrow night.
Good stuff.

I don't think so... I think it's really away from France for a movie lol

Suspiria (1977) - pretty freakin scarry, good suspense, f@ck!ng awesome cinematography, but there are still a couple of giggles to be had given some of the cheesy effects.

The Fun House (1981) - nice little injection of 80's horror with a welcomed cheese factor that makes this movie fun. Some interesting effects for the time too. And a year later, the same guy directed Poltergiest.

Poltergiest (1982) - sweet jesus I'm gonna piss myself and not sleep for days

Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) - haven't seen it in a really long time, but I know it had an impact on me as a child, gonna try to rent/purchase it tonight.

Christine (1983) - I want a classic car that restores itself!

House (1986) - very cool scarry movie, or at least that's what I thought when seeing it as a child, probably shouldn't have seen it as a child, oh well, that's what I get for growing up in an age with cable but no parental controls...

Fright Night (1985) - f@ck Nosferatu, this is one of the best all-time vampire movies, EVER!

Maximum Overdrive (1986) - f@ck yeah! Bring it to the machines Emilio!

Night of the Creeps (1986) - damn, another 80's horror flick!?

Prince of Darkness (1987) - I remember this one being freaky, I don't know if it would hold up the same today though, eh, I'm listing it anyways.

The Monster Squad (1987) - really just something for kids, actually, kids these days would probably find this film lame now, but it was fantastic when I saw it, but it was still pretty solid, and some pretty good makeup.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988) - like this really needs an explanation

In the Mouth of Madness (1994) - hahaha, they got Charlton Heston!

Scream (1996) - seriously, gotta give redefining teen slasher flicks credit where redefining teen slasher flicks credit is due.

Nightmare on Elm Street I, III, IV, New Nightmare - if anything, just watch Johnny Depp do his thing in the first one.

Friday the 13th II, III - why ony two and three? I honesly think it's because they had the most nudity...not sure.

Yeah, I know I didn't list any Hitchcock, Lynch, or Kubrick's Shining, or whatever else is considered standard for horror flicks, but at least I'm acknowledging them here, I just went in with what immediately came to my mind. I noticed when listing these films that many of them had a corresponding aesthetic in terms of film quality, lighting technique, cinematography, etc. from the 80's. But it's not like it was all "bad" 80's...was it? :) Pretty interesting. Well, I'm I glad I did this, I hope it sparks some other original off hand suggestions...

Of course. Hollywood pisses me off. Come up with an original idea... oh wait, that's what independent filmmakers are for.:)

I checked out Saw II over the weekend and I really liked it. To be honest, I thought it was better than the first one. Both the acting and the script were definitely better and there was just generally more going on.

Yeah we saw SAW II as well. Liked it a lot overall...

SPOILER---

here's a question that was much debated... why do you think Jigsaw's protege was in the house? as a test, willingly, to keep the kid from getting killed, to make sure everything went according to plan...????

I liked it overall. Can't wait for an uncut version! The end didn't have the same impact or element of surprise that Saw had but it worked. Some critics are blasting the ending, but I didn't mind it.

I thought it was a cool twist, too. It wasn't entirely a surprise, but I liked it.

Speaking of twist endings, we saw Hide and Seek for the first time last week (I know, I need to get out more). We had the ending figured out 20 minutes into the movie. I'm glad I saw it, but I'll never watch it again. It just didn't do it for me.

though I enjoyed watching Famke and Elizabeth.

Oh, hell yes! The movie could've used a little "more" of them, if you know what I mean.

A LOT more. I was hoping one of the deleted or extended scenes would be a steamy bubble bath between the two... alas, no....
