Can some one please recomend a good DVD tutorial for learning the basics of lighting.

I've read several books but they are useless to me as I am not given a visual when I need it.

Thanks,

This is more advanced stuff rather than basic lighting instruction, but absolutely worth checking out if you're interested in cinematograhpy:

Though it's not in any way a simple tutorial DVD, the documentary "Visions of Light" is a phenomenal and insightful look at the art of cinematography, with tons of clips from some of the most beautifully photographed films in cinema history, as well as extensive interview clips with the DPs involved, discussing how they achieved the looks of the films, as well as inspirations, etc.

Also, though it's not a DVD, the book "Reflections" offers a lot of great information on cinematography, including a lot of diagrams and stills showing how to achieve certain looks.

99$ is retarded I think, I'd pay you 20$ just to borrow the DVD and give it back to you.

It's the production value and the information included. Best lighting tutorial I have ever seen.
