Unfortunately I spend allot of time in the hospital with my father and loosing hours of editing.
I am looking for a laptop that will be strong enough to handle my 7 D and my new coming fs 100.
I am ok to spend up to 2k
I would love to hear your recommendations .
I was recently looking for an editing laptop. I went for a desktop in the end but this is the lineage of laptops I was most impressed with (a second hand earlier model of this lineage). The 8xxx series looks very good on paper, although I haven't had my hands on one reviews overwhelmingly positive. My second choice was going to be an alienware, msi or asus gaming laptop. The other one that looked a goer was the Lenovo workstations w5xx models. I had looked at the Dell 15z on the back of strong reviews and recommendations as a video editor but I don't see how, it's only 4 thread, a serious handicap. The main selling point is a similar form-factor/aesthetic with the macbook and that the screen is nice (1920 x 1080) but I wouldn't expect much of the 15z. They must have been talking about home video editing. If you already have a desktop and can take a hit in screen size then the Alienware 14" model is good and portable. 1600x900 screen, you can hook it up to an external monitor when available. Hope this helps.
