good hard drive / backing up footage?

I am working for a company and have got a new 2tb hard drive every year for 3 years. I am wondering what we could buy to help compact this? Should I just get two 8 TB hard drive and make one for back up one for what im editing? Any recommendations on what to buy here? Also is there a way to have a hard drive automatically back up the first or do you guys normally drop footage on to both hard drives separately?

If you are on a Mac Cronosync can automatically back up. Hard drive to a schedule you set and you can also trigger that back up manually if you wish. I have used it without issue for many years at what was a one off cost of £40. I know there are windows equivalents.
