I have a sennnheiser me64 cardoid an the oktava 012 - but wondered what folks would recommend as a good industry standard handlheld cardoid mic to add to the kit for use for inside and outside interviewing if the microphone needs to be used in handheld situations. ( preferably $200 or less).
Many thanks

There used to be some valuable pieces of information about using the ME64 for interviews at www.alanbarker.com, but that site seems to have closed down (BTW anyone knows whether it moved somewhere else?).

If you're looking for a condenser mic with a cardiod pattern the Sennheiser MD-46 is a good choice at a pretty decent price.

Also, the AKG D230 is a great dynamic omni ENG-style microsoft.

thanks for the feedback folks - I agree me64 sounds good.

I was not sure how robust it was compared to the two mics you mention lutnik - I orginally come from live music performance where we used heavier designed mics like SM58s - they could fall over on mike stands or get dropped by people and still work Ok most of the time :-)

I will go with the me64 for now and if interviewers get clumbsy - I'll get something more solid

You want the MD64, it's the right tool for the job.
Enough length for a flag. Trust me, it the one you really want.
