Good DV Deck???

I'll soon be in the market for a good/decent DVD deck...I found these two by JVC at B&H:

This one's probably about twice what your budget looks to be, but I've had it for over a year and it's worked great for me as a bare bones deck:

That one looks nice, but what does a more expensive deck get you that a cheaper one doesn't? Right now I use a 1-chip Panasonic DV camera and the only reason I want to upgrade is that the battery drains so quickly...that's why a deck with firewire sounds like a good option.

No offense, but if you're willing to drop 800+ on a dv deck, wouldn't it be more worth it to just get a better camera, since you said you're using a 1 chip? I mean, I can't imagine buying a dv deck just for a one chip.

No offense taken...it's just that I'm going to be dumping hours of footage at a time into my computer, and a low-cost DV cam's battery won't last that long. Besides, a better camera might cost just as much as the DV deck and the deck has a lot more features (DVD/VHS dubbing, capturing, etc...)

Cheap mini dv cam. Plug it into the wall. No battery necessary.
