Good Digital/Video cam for travel

My wife and I are going to Peru in December as I have posted previously. I was wondering what you guys thought about the Pentax Optio Digital camera. I work at the Secret Government (Wal-Mart), where I was looking at one. It does MPEG-4 video with sound.

I want something that will take decent Photos, and shoot video. I obviously am not going to take the DVX, it would cause me a stroke or heart failure if something happened to it, and you never know when you enter those countries what some idiot will do.

I don't want anything big and I don't want the hassle of film. I definitely do not want to break the bank on something that could get stolen or damaged. The Optio is $397.00. Takes good pictures, I just want some decent video.

The Optio is a great camera. My brother got one. I don't know if i'd recommend it for video though... none of those cameras are particularly great for video... they're mainly for still images...

If you want better video go for a sony TRV series camera... for about $400-$700 you can get a 1 CCD camera that can take still pictures of relatively high quality... depends on what you want to focus on though... high quality stills or higher quality video?
