Alright, so i took some of the board members advice and bought myself a
EVGA NVidia e-GeForce 7800 GTX KO ACS³.

Supposedly the 7800 boots performance in adobe premiere.

Not sure if i got a good deal on it or not, but here's the ebay page.

I got it for around $260 with three games included.
Call of duty 2, quake 4, Age of empires 3.

Seemed like a good deal to me.

Did i get ripped-off?:(

They go for around that on sites like NewEgg. Plus the 3 games, I'd say good deal. Call of Duty 2 is a great on-line shooter, and that runs about 50 bucks by itself.

Not sure if you'll get much for performance gain, Premiere is very CPU intensive. But if you're using the latest version of Magic Bullet, enable the GPU feature and you'll see much faster render times.

Your performance gain or otherwise will be determined by what you were using as a graphics card previously.

PremPro 2 can make use of the GPU of a good card and I found gains when I upgraded early in the year.

I think you'll like the card. I'm currently running a 7600 and PPro timelines run very smoothly, at least until I start adding too many effects. So I'm running out of CPU (Athlon 3800 X2) before my graphics card hits the wall. IMHO, at a certain point, a faster graphics card does not help Premiere. It has only a handfull of effects that actually use the GPU. However, I could not believe the boost in performance with some plugins like Magic Bullet. I can also really feel the difference with other apps like After Effects. So I think you'll like it. Nice set of games too. I'm not a Quake fan but I love the Age of Empires series. I had to take AoE3 off my system so I could get some real work done (and some sleep).
