I'm a long time viewer of these boards and finally created a username to contribute. I have been searching the net for quite a while for gear and found many companies that advertised a good price but when you tried to make a purchase it was a scam......I noticed a post on DVXuser suggesting Britek lights from Rostronics.com so I checked them out.

I ordered a very nice little set that I know would have cost more elseware....I worked with Tom who was more than happy to work with me and alter a package they had to fit my needs....very good company, I am looking forward to checking these things out and using them on a shoot soon.

He gave me an even better price since I was from DVXuser!! :thumbsup: ....all he asked was that if I had a chance to let everyone know at DVXuser that the 250 watt focusable lights and Soft boxes are back in. You can get one with a stand for about $150 with the softbox!!!
 
Yeah I've heard good things about these guys and Britek. I was going to buy from them but I was shocked to see they charge as much as the lights, to ship them to New Zealand. Places like B&H charge a fraction. But yes, good lights they are!

Dito for me. I can’t say enough good things about Tom and Rostronics. I just bought a light kit from him and he worked with me to customize it to what I needed, gave me a great price, and his customer service is second to none. I received the wrong replacement lamps and he overnighted the right ones to me. You can’t ask for more than that. I highly recommend them.

How come they don't show their accessories on the site? Do they make gel holders for their lights? That 1300W dual softbox kit for 325 seems like a kick ass deal! Are they quick on shipping? Does anyone know if they sell extra liight stands for say their 200 watt lights?
 
I bought a 600 watt open face with a focusable light and the softbox...it works well......I want Arri lights for myself like I use at work BUT, these are very good for the difference in price....I found the 250 to be a little odd to insert the bulb. It's a good light , but I'm happier with the 600's. I will buy a couple more for the price but I will opt for the heavy duty stands.

Still to get a good light, with softbox, stand and barndoors for around $250 is a great deal!! ...more money left for beer!! :beer:
 
They we're quick to fill my order and sent out on time....I will buy more from them at these prices. I plan on getting 2 more 600's and a 1K from them....I'll try the the better stands when I get those.
 
The stock Trimax stands I got with it where ok, but I felt that was the only thing I should have upgraded. The Heavy Duties where about 36 bucks more...I will opt for those next time...but then again, I'm not sure the difference until I have them in my hands.

Rostronics has more than what’s on the site. Tom is trying to find the time to update the web site with more information. Your best bet is to send him an email or call him. He will put together a kit with what you want in it or modify a kit that’s on the site. I added the heavy duty light stands, an extra barndoor, and an extra softbox to the 1400 Watt Dual Power 3 light Kit. He shipped my order the day I placed it.

What’s nice about the Britek’s is that the barndoors have clips top and bottom to hold gels. So there is no need for an extra gel stand. Every light has a built-in holder for an umbrella. They are very versatile in that regard. I got the 300/600w lights that have two 300w lamps and two switches. I’m glad I did because my first shoot only required a 300w softbox as a key. The 650w light would have been too much. I'm really happy with them.

Just ordered the 1200W light kit and wanted to mention the awsome customer service.

Tom also wanted people to know that he is going to be out of the office on monday but back on tuesday.
