Good computer monitor for post/editing for SD

Not sure if this goes here, but it seemed the most fitting.

I'm thinking of getting a newer, faster computer for editing, and if I did, I'd be looking for a new monitor. However, I want something that's going to display pre and post edit footage well, so colors aren't off and they're as close to reality (or how I want them to look in general everywhere else). Probably minute differences, but I wanted to get your opinions. Contrast ratios, refresh rates, resolutions...tell me what's the best.

It'd be for standard definition, of course. DVX100A footage. I want something big, too; probably at least 20 inches, or preferably 22. I have a budget, but I'll take the hit for better quality if I deem it acceptable.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Computer monitors don't have the same display characteristics as SD TVs (interlaced vs progressive, different scan rates, different color gamuts, etc.,) so your best bet is to get an SD CRT monitor. The lone exception is to get a Matrox MXO along w/an MXO approved monitor.

So I guess any monitor would work, just run it through a TV afterwards to check for differences...sounds good.
