does anyone know a good capture app for mac? i usta use winDV on windows lol... i treid iMovie which works good because you press the button and it captures each clip individually.. but the quality isnt as good as what you would do in fcp from what i was told... fcp i dont see a way you can import liek this. does anyone know a good app will have full dv quality and work the way i want it?

i belive you can capture that way with FCP if you want, I've never tried. And iMovie should capture at full dv quality. Anyone know this to be wrong?

iMovie's capture quality should be exactly the same than FCPs... not only the signal is a digital file, meaning there is no difference from one to another, but both programs use the same architecture for handling codecs: quicktime. What could happen is that they could load different gamma curves for the files in capture, such as FCP and AVID...

If you want to import a file by just letting it play and pressing a "rec" button, just use the capture now, in FCP. if you must choose device control to "non controllable device", and capture away... even a live feed.

no, it will make a different "clip" everytime the timecode breaks. That's the way I always do it, but i think there's a way using batch capture or something to get different clips for every take. Or you can do it by hand and set in and out points for each clip.

welll i tried this and it didnt give me a diff clip for everytimg i pressed stop on the camera lol... errr
