Good Buys on Filters?

Sad Max

Where's a good place to get deals on 4x4 filters, suitable for use with a Cinetactics Matteblox?

Been looking at the filters offered on the B&H site, and reeling from sticker shock...

Failing better deals on purchasing filters, is there a good house anyone wants to recommend in LA, for renting 'em?

I'm selling my Formatt 4x4 Polarizing filter which I've used with the Matteblox in the past. See my post from a week or two ago in this forum (MarketPlace/Buying Gear).

Hey Max,
Try Ebay. I have over the years amassed over 60 Panavision size filters from some really great DP off ebay. The trick is their shape ( must be VERY CLEAN) sorry for the caps, but dust is a killer in small cameras. And Weight. The cloth mattbox is not as suited for 4mm glass filters.

Search under: 4x4 filters, 4x Tiffen, Panavision, Lee , 138mm ( if the box has a dounut)

Good luck, but don't bid aginst BirdBoy. That's me & I'll whine.

The very best buy anyone's likely to ever see on filters is going on right now (or was until recently) at Schneider. They have some incredible deals, lots of their filters are going for $75 to $100.

Here's the link to the PDF from last year:

You'll have to call them and see if they still have those specials active. I spent several hundred dollars there a few months ago (thanks a lot, Brian Wells!)

Has any one used the Tiffen 72mm (manufacture # 72CP) circular polarizing glass filter on their Panasonic 100A? I'm thinking about purchasing one through B&H Photo. What is your opinion? Thanks
