Looking to get a good mic stand with boom option. Just looking for people with experience with certain ones that they like and trust and can recommend one to me.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the reply, basically for micing interviews. Something that will replace an operator if I dont have one.

That "Boom Pole Holder" in the link to B&H is actually just a fishing pole holder sold at any fishing tackle store or website. This is what I use and I paid about $5.00 for it from a fishing tackle web site.

Put your mike on your regular location hand held boom pole (assuming you have a boom pole). Then you just put a $25 2.5 inch grip head on any good sized light stand (which any self respecting filmmaker would already own both), put the fishing pole holder in the grip head and you have a great stationary mike boom.

You can adjust where the boom pole is in the fishing pole holder to balance the boom, and make the pole shorter or longer since all boom poles are adjustable. You adjust the angle of the boom by changing the pitch of the Grip Head and adjust the height by raising or lowering the light stand.

This simply utilizes things you probably already have and you only have to spend $5 and you end up a very good mike boom that is much easier to transport than a regular fixed boom and are things that can be used for other purposes if you are not booming from a fixed position.
