Hello,

I'm planing to buy an audio recorder for shooting location and i came across this:Tascam DR-60D.It was about 300$ a few months ago and now suddenly the price dropped to 200$ on B&H.I also found another one:Tascam DR-680 which was 500$ and now it is 430$.What do you think about the 60D?It has a very decent price and i think it will be good for filmmaking.Im planing to use this recorder for 'cinematic' filmmmaking togheter with a rode ntg2 probably. Can you help me decide what recorder should i get?

Thanks

The two recorders are quite different, and which one is most suitable depends on how it will be used. How many channels do you need? Will there be a dedicated sound person? Do you want gear that will fill future needs? In what environments do you film, and do you only record dialogue?

Short description: The 60 is a 4ch recorder made for dslr, with mediocre preamps. The 680 is a 6ch recorder made for bag use, bigger and heavier, with quite clean preamps but requires more battery power.
