Good affordable new ENG cameras?

Hey guys I am looking for a cheap but good ENG style camcorder. The Sony X70 is a contender but everything from it looks very video and camcorderish. I hate the quality of the footage.
I love the look of the JVC LS300. If I can find for £1500 I would buy. The XF100 also has great image quality, I am tempted but really wanted slow mo in 1080, it only goes to 50p in 720..

Anyway is there something I am missing? I really want good image quality but would love 50p in 1080...

As a owner of 2 Sony X70s I can tell you this is a Great camera, first it is a full Broadcast Camcorder which is capable of recording in 4K, second it can be completed "painted" to achieve most desired looks, for us we were able to create a "look" very close to our Panasonic 270s. also it has a 1 inch chip which I prefer to the 2/3 inch chips on most ENG cameras. The "Clear zoom" option does work with out adding artifacts and in a "run & gun" situation the active image stabilization works great and in low light the db boost is extremely clean. All in all a great little camera.

If you are buying new, the Sony Z90V and NX80 cameras ( new upgrades to the X70 design ) feature two big improvements over the X70...

- Extremely good AF ( the X70 AF is unusable for me )

- S-LOG and HLG camera profiles ( this should make it much easier to get a more cine looking image out of camera )

...As far as I know these are the only low cost prosumer ENG cameras with LOG ( at $4K you could add the Panasonic DVX200 to the list ), which is tempting me to buy it as a general purpose ENG camera for live events.

I would look at the Z90 from Sony if that would be considered to be an ENG camera or Canon XF 400/405.
