So i was watching the PGA championship the other week and every once in a while they'll show a slow motioned swing. It's real smooth and real clear. I was wondering how they achieve this effect? does the clarity simply come with the camera? i tried it and it didnt come out very clear. i tried to do it simply with a time stretch. is there a better way to do it with a better result?

use a high shuttter speed dude, maybe 1/250 and shoot 60i
Wrong. You're confusing electrionic shutter speed with frame rate. The electronic shutter effects the amount of smearing (motion artifacts) on the imager. Frame rate is the rate that the frames are recorded - 60i records 60 fields per second. High speed video captures the images to a RAM buffer. Those images are then tranfered to a hard drive and the ram cleared for the next shot. Record times are very short sometimes only a few seconds.

How about 500,000 fps: http://tinyurl.com/2nznss

Check the gallery on the site - some cool stuff.
