FORREST WHITTICKER DESERVED THAT ONE, HELEN MERIN ALSO DESERVES IT. BUT BABEL GETTING BEST PICTURE? DID ANYONE SEE THIS MOVIE I ALMOST WALKED OUT ...IT WAS SO SLOW......:kali:

Babel getting BP left me scratching my head (and Alejandro's remarks towards Arnold) even though I have not seen it yet

I absolutely love Amorres Perros and 21 Grams ....

But The Departed is one of the best films I have ever seen; it is Scorsese at the TOP of his game

How do the awards shows divide BP and BD ?

i agree John. The Departed is my favorite film of 06, and it should have won Best Picture. It was put together so well. I was glad Scorsese won, now it's time for his well overdue Oscar. I think DiCaprio should have won Best Actor. I really enjoyed his performance in Departed.

was it me or was everyone at the Globes saying "Internal Affairs" instead of "Infernal Affairs" when mentioning Departed was based on it?

i didn't see DEPARTED yet, i was waiting to get in free, but just watching BABEL on it's own merit and not competing against the others, come on! i guess politically correct? sh#$. and a dig at our political systems jumping the gun and blaming terrorist falsely? And the media jumping on the band wagon? so now you make a movie putting down USA and you win an applause?!

I have not seen Babel I can not comment except on other's opinions on it. Which isn' t bad but not worthy of best picture.

Departed DEFINITELY! Should have won. Now if only Scorsese can win his overdue OScar, however I think Clint will snab another one again (not that he does not deserve it, Letters from iwo Jima was... incredible. And Oh Ken Wantanabe better get an oscar nod!) BUT...

Departed was so brilliant and great, Scorsese at his best, he deserve the oscar for that one, and not just a sentimental film because he's overdue let's give him one finally HE DESERVES IT FOR THAT PARTICULAR FILM.

And Leo too, Blood Diamond he was incredible as well, obviously nominated for that too sadly in Awards terms that sorta cancels you out. Shame.

And Sasha Cohen had me literally rofl with his acceptance speech. Funny funny guy.

Usually they do go together, but not always. However, I think it's probably unprecedented that a picture has won best screenplay and best director, and then failed to win best picture.

yeah you're right. what's that all about! everybody wins here boys and girls we don't want any sore losers.
