Golden globes

No nominations for the Dark Knight call the entire process into question. What a joke. I think this is the only Heath Ledger movie I've ever seen so I'm not a fanboy, but holy smokes that was a good movie. And the only movie I've paid twice to see since... I can't even name the last time. And I paid twice to see it in IMAX!

I hope the Academy gives it proper consideration.

i don't know about this Tom Cruise nomination. Sure it was funny. But in the same category as a serious Philip Seymour Hoffman performance?

Ledger getting nominated is like keeping OJ in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Don't understand why we glorify suicide.

Where is the Best Director nomination for Christopher Nolan, i ask?

Ledger getting nominated is like keeping OJ in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Don't understand why we glorify suicide.

Doesn't matter if it was suicide or not, he's being nominated for a fantastic performance, which is what awards should be about!

You're joking right? No one even knows for sure it was suicide, and not only that, most evidence points to the contrary.

Any reason to be so bitter? Jesus.

His performace, as stated above this post, was fantastic. Brilliant, and deserving of recognition.

I guess people like you don't think someone who has died or has had a tragedy is deserving of any sort of attention, which begs the question: Were you this critical of Christopher Reeve?

If I had a nickel for every time I heard of a guy accidentally ODing on illegally-acquired drugs and then dying because of it...

I'd have 5¢.

I agree that it was a memorable performance. Just wishing Hollywood would take responsibility...

Umm, Mr Clueless, some of the drugs he "OD'ed" on were over the counter sleeping medications. And nice try with the "illegally-acquired" description. Illegally-aquired = Not illegal in themselves.

So lets break it down. He has some perfectly legal MEDICATIONS, some of which friends and others around him game him to use (something people do, and those who say they don't are liars), and in the process of trying to fight anxiety and insomnia, took medications that mixed into a lethal cocktail.

Yup, what an undeserving prick he is.

Grow up.

Not pleased that Nolan wasn't recognized.... it's always these "art films" that get the noms... stupid.

i don't think any of these would be considered "art films." These are some top-notch directors making big movies for big audiences. Albeit not quite as big an audience as batman.

TDK should be nominated and so should Milk, seriously how is Milk not nominated?

And it will be a scary scary night if Slumdog Millionaire wins best pic or director

You're right everyone loves it for some reason... it was entertaining and the cinematography was good but the story had many cheesy moments, seriously many of them. The way it was told, flashbacks, has been done so many times before, and the movie relies on tons of montage sequences, almost like the writer was thinking "okay lets make a list of 'cool things' and pack them all in together" The premise alone is a guy wins who wants to be a millionaire and we flash back for every question to see why he knows the answer, just makes me of something a fifteen year old would think up. And that's not totally bad or anything, its a "cool" idea but to be in the running for prestigious awards in cinema? Just seems off to me, I could be wrong of course and maybe another viewing will change my mind who knows.

I do think it was put together well and was engaging for sure, but I think so is a movie like Snatch but Snatch would never be nominated for good reason.
