Gold Reflector

Where is a good place to get a 6x6 gold reflector? Also, I have a 4.5ft x 10ft piece of cardboard, could I get gold foil somewhere or paint it gold?? I have looked in stores, but you can't find it anywhere. I tried taking a silver car shade and spray painting it gold, but it absorbed more light than it reflected, can anyone help with this?

Well a cardboard or foam core surface painted with gold paint might be interesting but it won't have near the reflective surface of gold shiny reflective material.

If I was making one of these, I'd probably favor the gold foil method you mentioned, that will have the shinier surface necessary.

cool! I thought so, where would I get this gold foil? As i said, I have tried to find it in stores and NADA! I even bought some Gold mirror board, but it's pretty splotchy and is not very even with the reflection!

walmart, auto section windshield head reflectors, silver one side gold the other, works really well, 6 bucks gets you 2,

I use a gold table clothe all the time. Its about 6'x4' and works wonders. Its usually around during christmas time when you can find them easily. You can also get them in dark green and red too.

Or maybe there's some gold fabric used to make them at a fabric store. I'm not familiar with where to find gold foil except on the old lunar landers that are still up there on the moon. They had a bunch on them.

For documentary work, we've taken beadboard or foamcore and laminated gold / silver fabric onto them with spray adhesive. Total cost will be about $15. They hold up pretty well, just don't stretch the fabric too much when applying it or you'll laminate a permanent curve into the foam.
