In 2006 I made this dvx100B model for use in one of my dvxuser leaders.
Renderers have improved since then and I've been revisiting some
of my older models and re-rendering them.

My ToDo list includes redoing this animated leader.

Lol. Yeah, if only it was real gold.
I have to run a short animation test to see if I get artifacting or not.
If so I might see if I can bake in the materials. ->ToDo list.

I used to lean towards Marmoset for these kind of shots. I didn't like Keyshot in the past but this new release is very interesting.
I haven't tried camera animation in it yet.
 
I'm having a lot of problems with the Keyshtot-C4D plugin camera re: importing animations from C4D to Keyshot wise. Very frustrating.

Sorted the issues and all is good with KS now.
I kept the animation true to my original with only very minor technical corrections that arose from the new workflow. New material on the model is about it.

In the excitment over having a new program I rushed a few renders. I miss the criticism.

I can understand where you're coming from though, it's a different forum than it once was. I've been contemplating on moving on from here myself. In terms of your gold Dvx100, it's awesome, looks fantastic. Unfortunately there's not to much in the way of Dvx fests these days. Seems everyone has become to busy with everyday life to find the extra time to produce anything.
 
Looks nice for sure! Wish I could model something like that! I was wishing a few weeks ago for 3d models of my hmc 150 cameras for use in a demo reel, haha.
 
Yeah, it has slowed done quite a bit compared to the old days. I still pop in because this my old stomping grounds.

As for the dvxmodel, once the individual components are identified it's a matter of modelling each one and putting it all together. It may look complicated but it's really not. A lot of simple shapes. Tons of them though. Hehe.
The hmc 150 does look nice. I'm almost tempted to model one.
 
I appreciate that you still visit here. From time to time I am in here as well, though not much. I have had a goal for years to get back into 3D modeling and animation more. Yet since 2009 have been dealing with so many problems and mundane projects that I haven't been able to.

I was actually doing some animation for a demo this last week and it's frustrating trying to do things and it's like "how did I used to do that?!" trying to remember.
 
I'm in the same boat, getting back into 3D animation. I agree, 3D is so complex and trying to remember the name of the tool or the workflow you needed to accomplish something just takes a while. At least computers are +10x faster than they were back 17 or so years ago when i started working in the animation industry.

To be good I think you need to be doing it full time hours every week. There's so much to know.
In '09 I'd say I was a lousy modeler and almost subpar animator.
Now I'd say I've digressed to wretched in both categories, haha.
Thats what happens when you can't spend time in it.
nonetheless I managed to buy 3ds max 2016 and plan on using it. Hopefully some of these other troubles will lessen.
 
Me too firehawk. My archive discs tend to say "2006". ONE sais 2010. Man....like all of us life DOES get in the way. This has always been and continues to be a hobby for me. I'm retired now thank God. My friend actually asked me, a few times, "why do you do that?" My only response I can sum up, other than "it's my nature" was to say "it's better than watching T.V. I like using my brain." As with any hobby/interest, how do you explain why? Lolll. That's a good one. -Cheers.
