Going to shoot Doc in Peru

I have been invited to document and film the impact and development of Ayahuasca tourism by westerners (from various countries) with a Native tribe deep in Peru.

With a professional still photography background I have some of the tools but this is my first crossover to video.

With a limited budget of USD$5000-$7000 I have to get a portable kit with as much gear as I can squeeze in - hence I am looking for someone interested in advising where to look or even sell themselves a ready-to-go used package with a mashup such as below:

A decent professional camera (used - AG-DVX100?), stable cam/glidecam/LevelCam, Lavalier Mic(s) + Bodypack Transmitters, Wide Angle Lens, filter holder and sunshade, Shotgun Condenser Microphone, High Capacity Batteries, Rain Cape, Light kit, tripod et al.

Thanks.

It'll be hard to find all that under your price range. I say bare essentials plus, consider HDV as this will look better (not sometimes ie small picture cams that claim HDV). So maybe purchasing a sony a1p or the newer Canon HV20 as it is smaller, cheaper and still delivers great footage in HDV. Note that even if your final product is not meant for HDV, it will down convert to this and you may be able to sell the footage on due to its HDV quality.

It depend how you plan to distribute your project? If you expect some dvd distribution and maybe a chance for broadcast and international market:
My personnal choice would be:
Canon xha1 ($3250)
Senn G2 wireless Lav ($500.00)
Rode NTG2 shotgun ($200.00)
Rode NTG3 , to record chanting if there is ($200)
an extra wire Lav ($100.00)
extra batterie, a 20' xlr cable ($200.00)
3 vidleds plus batteries ($1000.)
Very light tripod and head ($600.)
a very good bag ($250)
This is still below $7000. and should do the job.
Your subject is very interesting I think it is worth doing as good a job as possible.
Good luck and let us know how it turn out.
