Going to Mexico City

So in a few weeks I'll be visiting my hometown of Mexico City (I haven't been back in 4 years). I'll be taking along my DVX for some (hopefully) interesting shots.

Anyway, I want to take it upon myself to show Mexico City in as accurate a portrayal as possible, showing both some poverty as well as the prosperity throughout the city. I'm tired of people thinking Mexico City is some big shanty town, and hopefully I can change some perceptions.

So I'd like to know what you guys would like to see in the video? What comes to mind when you think of Mexico City? What questions do you have that could be answered in a video? What do you think are some misconceptions that could be addressed?

I'd really love to hear from you guys. It would mean a lot to me, and help me wrap my head around what I should shoot. So please let me know!

Peace,
Diego

Food is always an informative indicator of local culture to me.

Also, what the average citizen does on a day-to-day basis would be interesting to me. What types of jobs the average citizen holds, etc.

Not much, but things I'm interested in nonetheless :)

Jason

I'd like to see you not get kidnapped or arrested so that we don't have to take up a collection to ransom or bribe your way to freedom.

Years ago a documentary film maker acquaintance showed some stuff he'd shot in Mexico City including this really huge, very cool model of the city...it looked like maybe about 1/100 scaqle or so, and was set up in a plaza somewhere...if you could find that, that would be pretty neat...

Natural Anthropology Museum - nothing speaks like the past of that culture and the coolest cathedrals you can find, for nothing speaks like the religion of a
culture.

...although those cathedrals are emblematic of an imposed alien culture, rather than the indigenous culture they virtualy wiped out...

What with all the 2012/Mayan woo-woo going around these days, you might want to clarify your meaning there, unless you want people asking you for tips on foil-based millinery!

Alright, I'm leaving in the morning. Hoping my DVX doesn't get stolen, and that I get some good footage. I may visit the forum while I'm there.

¡Nos vemos!
