Going to Buy A Light - You Tell Me Which One

I love my vidled, Id say at leat five of my friends in the industry have purchased them after seeing mine, plus they have awesome customer service. I dont say that much.
 
You may also want to check out Litepanels at litepanels.com. A little more expensive, but they appear to come with more accerories right out of the box.

So I guess I would compare the specs carefully and add up the true total of buying the kit.

I know with the Litepanels you can power it from their own rechargable battery, use DVX/HVX batteries, or use D-tap. So it is pretty flexible in that regard.

VidLed is the most professional company I've ever dealt with. My Cool LED is awesome. It's dimmable, and with diffusion, gels, etc. is the most versatile light I have. I'm looking forward to getting some more for on-camera and their LED sticks for light stand use.
 
I recently bought two coolLEDs and like them a lot so far!
I just had problems mounting them on the HVXs hotshoe along with my on-camera shotgun mic, I´ll get a ballhead or noga arm for that later...
Anyways, since I needed them pretty fast before a trip to Spain, Marius even called me from the states to check if everything worked out fine - now that´s what I call customer care!
Great product, great price, great service!

VidLEDs can all be powered this way as well. I have both the Light Panels and the Vid LEDs, and the VidLEDs are much more robust and BRIGHTER.
 
I use the HVX200 along with the mounted ext mic ... if i got the vivLED i would need to buy that arm and shoe mount adapter to go along with it so i can use both simultaneously mounted on the cam?

EDIT: Oh, you mean the HVX's "built-in" mic mount? I believe our light clears that, but let me check....yes, you should be fine.
If you need extra clearance, I'd suggest the small BALL HEAD we sell, that will add up to an extra 1.5".

That's cool to know. Like anything, you tend to go with you have used before. From my own experience the Litepanels are built like little bricks that you could pound nails with. Yet they only weigh 9 or 10 ounces without the battery, and just around a pound with it.

Now everyone knows that you need the battery. Sometimes I just put the battery in my pocket of fannypack and run the cord up to the light mounted on a noga arm.

It is good to have choices. Since I have not looked at Vidleds much, were you comparing a Litepanel spot or wide angle to Vidled. Obviously, the spot would be tighter and punchier.

I was comparing the 2 Litepanel wides that I have.

The reason I say they aren't as robust as the VidLEDs, is because I busted a Litepanel by dropping it. The VidLED websitre has a girl THROWING the VidLED around a concrete basketball court, then turning it on.

I can tell you from experience that the Litepanel WOULD NOT survive that beating, much less turn on afterwards.

They are GOOD lights, but are not as robust as the VidLEDs.

We re-did that destruction video a few weekends ago:

That particular light in that video had its potentiometer replaced and was sent as a DEMO unit to a big newspaper in NYC last week, because they wanted to try one out.
