Going Macro

Right now, I'm shooting DVCAM footage of ticks and fleas with a series of screw-on Diopters.

With a HVX200, what would be the best way to get extreme macro footage?

1.Screw on diopters?
2. G35 or Redrock adapter, using 35mm macro lenses?

Thanks folks,

Kent Nelson

Now that's some odd subjects there. Fleas and ticks, please tell me that they are all dressed up and at a flea circus, right? Big top flees?

I think the screw on diopters would be worth a try at the beginning but they might not give you the necessary macro feel you want. I'm going to be buying a few when I get the HVX.

The 35mm adapter might offer some interesting results. I think that focus is critical with these though so you will probably need a good amount of light and maybe a focus puller.

Greetings Nelson,

I've shot some beautiful hyper-macro work of insects:

These were made using a Nikon camera with a little adapter ring that allows you to mount a lens *front element backwards*. An ordinary 50mm lens became a considerable macro, and a 24mm became a hypermacro. Of course, the depth of field is hair-thin, but that's part of the fun. I just modified a lens blind cap as a shade to cut down on flare. but presumably the g35 rig could be made to work in the same way.

And some imagery of watch movements (made with 2 stacked diopters on top of a macro lens).

Enjoy,
Morgan

Has anyone had luck, with extreme macro with the HVX? Good diopters? Adapters?

Thanks,

Kent
