going for effect lighting insdie of car...

ok i'm trying to do something a little bit different.

it is for a short that is sort of a thriller with a car as a main character.

the car is a 1968 baracudda...

the idea i have is to make the interior of the car pretty much glow.

i have a couple of lowel lights and a mini frezzi 100 watt.

what i was thinking was to put the mini frezzi in the car with some colored gel on it, something amber? orange? etc.

and then maybe put either a reflector ring or a simple foam board on the ceiling with gaffers tape so it reflects the light around the interior.

the main goal is to have the light come glowing out the windows and to have the drive not be visible.

any tips?

i figure put the driver all in black and have him slouch down.

this would of course be shot at night.

i have read bits and pieces about putting gels on the headlights and white balancing with that, can someone explain that? i don't quite get it.

i don't have the softbox for my frezzi yet, everyone is out of it...what is the best way to mount the gel over the mini frezzi?? how far does it have to be to make sure it doesn't melt??

Be careful. Don't actually drive the car around with the driver slouched down with bright lights everywhere. You're begging for an accident/big fine (or both) if a cop sees this.

sure, anytime it would be moving would be on a private road that is closed.

most of it would be sitting still.

What camera perspective(s) do you anticipate using? (Where are you placing the camera?)

Re: going for effect lighting insdie of car...

I'd try to get the light to be as soft as possible (the foamcore on the ceiling is a good idea) and then I'd bring it to the point of almost being blown out (if not completely). I've never done something like this... you've made me want to experiment a little bit.

i want to have it so that from head on the windshield and general interior sort of glows.

we did some experimenting today and it didn't look quite right.

the only 12v light i have is a mini frezzi 100watt.

the closest look we got was with a lowel tota light with a red gel placed behind the car with the light coming in through the hatchback glass.

problem is we need a look that can be done while the car drives slowly down the street following someone.

Glowing lights (like neon, or something like that) might be a better start, and a little fog from a smoke machine or can o' smoke might help.
