I want to offer a guess after looking at the beard for just a few seconds. I want to guess Hemingway... photoshopped onto Roger.
Let's see if I'm right... I don't know Mr. Ebert, but I have a great respect for him... and from reading his reviews I think I can ascertain his wit.

What do you think Mr. Ebert is most proud of... ? His ability to analyze movies... or the art of writing? ( I also think he'd recognize the compliment if another person chose that beard based on the same idea).
I'm firing up the crock-pot, because if it's not Hemingway I'll eat my shoe. It just makes sense... because it's a complete idea. Hemingway was a great writer, and Ebert was no great filmmaker... but he is a great writer.
