Dave Dugdale just posted this awesome 20-minutes shootout, Gopro Hero 6 vs Xiaomi Yi 4k+, with Sony FDR-X3000 as well for some of the tests:

Summary: Gopro has nicer colors outdoors (though way too saturated) (sky colors in particular, I like the Gopro way more than the Yi) and underwater (where the Yi does relatively poorly), Yi has nicer colors indoors (GoPro does very badly with auto WB indoors), the GoPro shows a lot more noise (even though it's supposed to be the same Sony sensor), but it also does better in timelapse and has a better screen. He has a personal winner because of where he uses the camera the most, but it's going to be very different for other people.
For me, the winner would probably be the Sony, actually. I ALWAYS need image sabilization on sport cameras, and 2.7k on the GoPro is actually A LOT softer than 1080p on the Sony. Like, night and day. The GoPro actually looks more like 720p, at most. Then again, I also use mine a lot underwater, so I'd have to look at the Sony underwater color palette.
