Glossy Black and white look

I am editing a project where the first 5 or 6 clips are in black and white. I want to be able to make those clips have a glossy or super crisp, clean type look. The footage was shot 24p in good lighting but I can still see noise in the blacks. I might try to crush the blacks in Color Corrector 3 way and see if that will help. I plan on getting some plugins today and there might be something in that package to help with this.

What NLE are you using? What plug-ins did you buy? Are you asking how to get photos to look "glossy" on a TV screen?

After Effects has a really good noise reducing filter but it usually blends (blurs) some of the detial in the colors (in color footage) but it might work good for BW.

Nattress has some nice Presets, then you can tweak those to your style. It's only $100 as opposed to Magic Bullet which is much more expensive. http://dvcreators.net/nattress-film-effects-fcp-plugin

As a quick fix you might also try "proc amp" in Image Control (already included in FCP) to crush your blacks. I use this quite a bit to give a shot a richer and cleaner look, and have even used it to sharpen a soft focus, which had much better results than "image sharpen" (though it depends on the lighting).

Forgive me if my menu names aren't entirely correct, I'm not in front of my editing station.

Wow you guys are right on the money! I just got done reading something about using the PROC AMP in my FCP 5 Apple Pro Training Series Book. As for the plugins, I am going to be buying the Nattress Film effects. Guy, which preset did you use for that example you posted?
