Its been 3 months. 4 batteries 80 wh batteries trapped at jfk customs. Margeret from globalmedia responds to emails but is not helpful - 2 months later I'm out $700. Would another company just refund the money and mark it as a loss? Tnt shipping company says its out of their hands. Anyone else having similar experiences?

Kind of interesting to see when international sales go wrong.

I assume it's a lithium battery issue - but they had filled out the right paperwork.

Let me know if anyone else has had similar experiences.

While I have no experience with 'batteries' and international shipping, I have had a lot of shipping experience with typewriters from 'private persons'... but no batteries... all manual mechanicals...
I have had to wait several months for shipments to arrive. I currently am waiting on a typewriter that was shipped from the Netherlands on Dec 18. According to the Netherlands postal service tracking info, it is in US Customs...

Again I don't know if the type of material you are expecting could have something to do with things, such as 'patents', trade issues... or materials issues... but I do sometimes worry if someone uses packing material that pops up on some 'scanner', like a cardboard box that was used to ship some 'marijuana' product, which is legal in some areas of the Netherlands, but obviously illegal in the US... or just that the person shipping is on 'some list'... etc.

Anyway, eventually all my shipments have cleared customs. It also seems that this happens more frequently when I receive something from a 'new' country... and in the case of the Netherlands, I've only received a few items some years ago.

Who knows what goes on in the name of 'terror interdiction'... but sometimes I wonder.
