Glidecam V-8

Just rented a Glidecam V-8 body mount stabilization system and fell in love with it. So, I placed an order and bought one. ;D

If you have every used the smaller versions, the movements translate over after a little while of playing around. This system will make shooting weddings and films 10x easier. Was very impressed with the results this weekend, I'll post some stuff up soon.

Nice! I have the GC 2000 Pro and am very pleased with the results. Another brush in the easel. Weird, huh? It actually does what they it does!

Well, the 2000 is great, esp for quick and dirty stuff. But if you are shooting a film, or plan on staying steady for a long period of time, (Wedding) having the bodymount really makes it easier, comfortable, and more stable.

I agree, the bodymount would be epic. I have no problems without it (I can take it!)

If I planned to use some extended STABILIZING shots I definatley rent or buy one (ala DePalma). Havent tried it with a Mattebox but Ill plan the shots accordingly. :)

I have 2000. Dont know about 4000. But...........

Im not doing ER next week, so I should be okay ;D

The 4000 is basically a bigger version of the 2000. We flew the DVX on a 2000 and it worked fine. For the show I do, we have the DVX, a quick-release plate, a Frezzi mini-fill light, two XLR cables, headphone cables, a Century .6x wide-angle adapter, two wireless receivers, and someday soon a portable hard disk recorder all strapped to the camera (or the cameraman). Because of that I went with the 4000 -- seemed like i was pushing the 2000's weight limit.

Yeah, thats more than my set-up Barry ;)

Very soon (yeah, I got the tax return :D ) I'll have some neat toys.

Wow, thats funky! :) You rigged it up so your shoulders take more of the beating rather than your lower back? That's pretty nifty. I was ok using the V-8 with a battery, lcd, and cabeling mod. What you have there looks pretty cool. Is that strap going under your crouch? ???

We just bought our V8 two weeks ago. Its pretty solid. We did however make some modifications (a better monitor mount, as well as reenforcment to the back side of the vest to give better back support.

Do you guys have some sample footage of the dvx on the V-8?

I wanted to research options for an upgrade from my promax steadytracker extreme. I looked into the cheapest steadicam with a vest, but I'm curious about this one also.
