Glidecam smooth shooter, or X-10 ?

I'm about to buy arm and west to my Glidecam HD4000 (and my HPX171E cam). But I am not sure if I should go for the SmoothShooter or the X-10. The price difference is about 5000,- nkr. (about 680 USD). Is the X-10 much better than the SS, and is it worth the price difference ? I know that you can upgrade the SS to X-10, but the price for the upgrade kit is (off course) higher than the price difference when buying.

Anyone tried both and can help me with some suggestions ?

i cant speak from experience of the X-10 but i do have the Smooth Shooter with Glidecam 2000 plus the Steadicam Pilot i use with the EX1 (Glidecam rig is not used anymore)

IMO the smooth shooter vest (only) is much more appealing than the pilot vest. not even a contest.

the X10 vest (only) looks better than the smooth shooter vest.

after being on the pilot with the greater range of up and down distance...i think the extra throw up and down with the double spring arm of the X10 would be well worth the extra money if youve got it to spend.

i really like that Glidecam has added quick adjustments knobs for fine tuning on their new HD versions. this was my biggest gripe with them on the old 2000 and 4000.

good luck,
david
