"Glidecam" anatomy of a stick.

Looking into buying one of these steadirods. I have emailed indiecam about their vests and they have told me the difference of Glide VS Promax rods. It went something around the gimbal system which seems quite relevant in the design. I am assuming it serves the purpose of an "arm" found in complete rigs. Any info where i can find more in depth explanation of the way steadicam operates and maybe some tips on how to fly it properly would be greatly thanked.

Also, i am running a dvx with pana ana and possibly a shotgun on top of that. Should i fly the 2000 or 4000 versions?
Many thanks guys!

Re: "Glidecam" anatomy of a stick.

I have rented and sold both versions for the DVX. I think the DVX is right in that gray weight area between both versions, where either one will do. The key is to balance it just right, and then not add or subtract accessories from the camera afterwards.

The 4000 seems to work better when people have the bigger batteries, a 0.6 century wide lens (which is usually the case, it helps with the look of the motion), mic's, or a Mattblox. It is a lot more weight though, and I usually recommend the forearm brace to help sustain you for longer shots.
