DAY 1

Yesterday was day one with the hvx and glidcam 4000. No luck in balancing the hvx. Set up was hvx/battery/tape/stock screen hood/LCD pulled out. I do not have a external monitor right now so LCD is what i will have to work with.

Weights used- 2 up front of base plate and 2 at the back (4 total). Spent about 30 minutes balancing with no luck. I know this will take some practice so i'm ready for the challenge. i hope.

If anyone has mastered the HVX200 with Glidecam 4000 kindly share your set up. I'll continue to post updates to report what worked for me, and what didn't.

My stabilizer is basically a knockoff of a Glidecam 2000. I had to use a lot more than 4 weights, in fact, had to go to the hardware and get several more than it came with. And, extend the post to near the max. But it did balance. Grab the handle and hold it horizontal, if the camera end drops, you have work to do.
When that is done, with the bottom slightly heavier, do the front to back balance.
Loosen the thumbscrews a fraction of a turn and move the plate in tiny increments
until you can hold it up by the handle and, when viewed from the side, it is level.
Then do the same with the bottom thumbscrews for the side to side adjustment,
so that the post is exactly vertical. Once these are done, you should be able to grasp the handle, thrust the camera forward and back, and it should not rock at all.

did you use a docking station to balance or you simply put on the floor or table and make your adjustments? i will have to try it with more than 4 weights. The HVX is pretty heavy on the GC 4000 and would probably take more than 4 weights other than what im using right now. i'll have to look for the other weights and give it a shot. It will probably be this weekend that i get back to practicing. thanks for the reply. I'll post my results next week.

I have a glidecam2000 and fly the HVX on it. It takes about a minute to set up with out a quick release for me. I just put it on the ground adjust pick it up, put it down, adjust pick it up and fly.

I fly the 2000 also. I would rather fly it on a bigger rig but I already had the 2000 from the old days...

It works fine. I am positive you can get the 4000..... keep trying! Remember to do the drop test. That's how you know the bottom weights are to little or to much.
