Glidecam 4000 Headplate

I bought a Glidecam 4000 off Craigslist, but it is missing the headplate that holds the camera. I called Glidecam and they said they can ship me a replacement for $90 bucks, but that seems pretty high for just that one piece.

I would like to try to put something together out of wood or something I can pick up a Home Depot.

Does anybody have close up photos of what the Glidecam 4000 or 2000 headplate looks like so I can get an idea of what I need to build? Thanks.

I've got a 2000 which has worked nicely for me. Would like to upgrade to the 4000 to support a larger (heavier) camera.

Here are a few pics of the plate.

Good luck with your DIY efforts.

if you want to upgrade it, buy extension tubing and attach it.

4000 headplate is different

4000 headplate is different

4000 headplate is different from 2000. can post some pics later for you, mine is rented this week, but 4000 has more and larger holes and they make a stripe the long way across the whole plate head........

also, for larger camera--- functions as a counter weighted lever arm......the 4000 is longer, longer arm length is greater torque force as counter weight at end. therefore same amount of weight on longer arm will counter act (larger) camera weight with more force for better balance.

thought.....you might be able to use peg board to lay out holes to drill metal backplate with a stepped drill bit to make them large enough for hardware. if you can weld, the piece is not too complicated......
