Do I need the arm brace for my Glidecam 4000 pro? I know it depends how much I'll be using it at a given time but do I need it? I am using for my Sony HDV-A1.

Thanks.

I guess it depends on how big your forearms are and how long you'll be using it. Only you can decide if you need it or not.

I'll second that. It is a requirement to get the arm brace. Regardless of the weight of the camera atop it, you will not be able to operate the glidecam properly. Even with the brace, it is quite a challenge.

I disagree. That camera is particularly light, but even operating DVXs and XL1s, I find it's perfectly easy to work without the brace as long as I'm not doing it for more than say 15 minutes at a time. Any more than that and it creates noticeable fatigue, however.

My glidecam is frustrating enough to balance and just get set up... The forearm brace is my next purchase unless I just say screw it and get the smooth shooter.
