Glidecam 2000

Wondering if anyone out there has used the Glidecam 2000? I have read a few comments on this board and others. Some slag it to hell while others say it works well.

I will be using it for short shots only so I am not planning to buy any other accessories.

What do you think?

Re: Glidecam 2000

I got the 4000PRO, well, let me tell ya' it is quite a workout! Unfortunately my right arm will look beefier than my left one (I'll look like a live King Crab in a few years). If you get this kind of stabilizer gadget then think about buying (or designing your own) body vest (not the crappy Glidecam vest they sell for $150). Otherwise... may your right/left arm live long and prosper! ;D

Cheers!

Re: Glidecam 2000

I own the Glidecam 4000 also and use it for specialized shots only. It is a workout on your arm and you really need to plan your shots well before you start shooting with this puppy.

As far as the quality? I have used other brands and, in the handheld range, it is the absolute best in my opinion. There is no difference between the 4000 and the 2000 except it's ability to handle a heavier camera.

I will warn you though, like I always do, if you are planning on accessorizing the camera (i.e., making it heavier) in the future, do yourself a favor and spend the extra cash on the 4000 so you don't have to shell out more bucks down the road.

Check back further in this section as the Glidecam 2000, 4000 and other stabilizers are discussed in several threads.

Re: Glidecam 2000

Thanks for your help. I'll only be doing very short shots with it so I think I can cope with the strain on the arm. I think it's gonna be a bit more flexible than a tripod/dolly setup.
