Has anyone used the glidecam with the dvx? I just ordered one yesterday and am looking forward to learning how to use it. My friend has one for his pd-150 and let me try it but I was wondering how many people really use it.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

I have one, used it on my gl-1 and liked it. I have not yet needed to use it with my DVX. the one thing you may struggle with is getting it balanced just right. It is very, very sensitive. Becuase of this.... shoot all of your glidecam footage once you get it balanced. Because there is nothing worse than having to rebalance a second time later in the day. I tried the quick release plate and had mixed results as the plate itself would shift just a hair and throw off the balance. It's a great tool once you get it balanced.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

I have one and have used it and love it. It'll do for what I need at this time. (Is that English?)

It's a nice tool in my bag but I forsee in the future moving up; not terribly soon though. And yes, it really is kick ass. Amazing lil thing it is. You'll be stoked when you figure it out.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

2000 for the DVX? Not the higher weight holdable 4000? (is THAT english?)

Also, not to break thread, but any of you try the Verizoom flowpod thingie before buying the glidecam? I'm on my way to NYC with both of those on my BH wishlist... any thoughts?

Oh -- and can you adjust the angle up and down of the camera, or can you only shoot level shots?

Thanks,

CaptM

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

With the GC 2000 you can hold/manipulate the angle of the Cam up or down.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

The glidecam 2000 pro holds up to 6lbs. the 4000 pro holds 4-10 lbs. I kinda demoed(is that english?) a 2000 pro with my dvx and it worked ok. I like the flowpod and the steddipod but I think I will make on of these and use the glidecam as well.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

The 2000 works okay with the DVX, as long as you don't weigh it down with a ton of accessories. The 4000 works well as well, especially with accessories on, but it's inherently heavier. When using a handheld stabilizer, light weight is your friend, so if you don't anticipate stringing two wireless receivers, a quickstream, a wide-angle adapter, etc. all over your DVX, you might be okay with the smaller 2000.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

I have the DVX100A and Glidecam2000, It took a little while to "master" the balancing. I've had compliments on how smooth and floating it is.

BUT, There's a big thing about operation too. I've heard its called "rolling of the feet", I just got that down too.

Great device for under a grand!

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

True that; and yes, foot work is key. Just pretend your getting ready to clear a room full of terrorist! (That's in reference to the footwork) :P

Lightweight is indeed key. I only plan on using the stabilzer for certain shots and moods and have no intention of overdoing it. It can be murder on the forearm!

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

the Glidecam 200 is actually the first thing I bought for my DVX, actually 2 days after I bought the DVX

the reason I chose the 2000 over the 4000 is the wieght, and you dont understand that till you actually use it. Seriously, before you build those muscles after about 10 minutes you feel like your wrist is gonna fall off.

Works great, but to be honest I have used it maybe 4 times, although if I got good with it I may use it more.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

LOL

I was surprised by the pain in my forearm. I'm a fairly fit/working out kind of dude and I was crying like a girl. It does get easier though as the muscles build up.

Sides, like anything, plan the shot and get it done.

Re: glidecam 2000 pro and dvx.

hah hah.. I have seen some pretty big boys even cry with Stedicam vests on....
