Gl1 Dvx Headache

Yeah, I already posted about this last week, and thanks so much to everyone who offered advice...i've reset my FCP prefs and tried everything I can think of, but for some reason, I CAN'T CAPTURE DVX 24PA TAPES THROUGH MY GL1/2 into FCP.

I don't get it. I got a reply from someone using the same exact setup, and he says it works for him just fine.

I can capture just fine with my DVX, but of course, that's bad for the tape heads.

I'm in the middle of a never-ending documentary and i have hours and hours of logging to do that I'd rather delegate to my older canon.

Rack your beans! Any idea what the prob might be? Could it be a camera setting.

The capture window will play just fine in the preview (VTR OK), but when I go to actually capture, i get a black screen that says: "WAITING FOR TIMECODE"

Could it be dirty heads? Or could it have to do with the kind of Timecode that you used when shooting? Drop-Frame or Non Drop-Frame. I don't think that has anything to do with it. Try borrowing someone elses dv camera and see if that works, if it does then you know it is your old GL1. Hope that helps somehow.

Well, I tried it with my GL2 as well.... :(
I'm going to get on the phone to apple or panasonic, but I'm dreading the run-around. As much as I prefer Apples products, their cust.service BLOWS like the autumn breeze...

okay...new development...I looked at the manual, and there are a gazillion and three ways to set the timecode! Could an improper setting in either of these menus result in a funky timecode?

Because time code seems to be the issue.
